Crop productivity and agrobiodiversity

This topic explores the interactions between increasing staple crop productivity, resilience to climate change, improving nutrition and sustaining agro-biodiversity. Discussions will be framed around these key questions:

  • What are potential trade-offs of staple crop breeding for productivity with 1) sustainable use and conservation of agricultural biodiversity; and 2) dietary diversity?
  • What are trade-offs between climate resilience, nutrition and agricultural productivity?
  • What are the implications for the agricultural research agenda?

Background papers have been commissioned to set the scene and guide Forum discussions. You can access complete background papers and summaries in this section, as well as related case studies.
